Partnering with God in Entrepreneurship: A Faith-Based Approach to Success

God has not brought us this far to leave us. And He promises us that he will not give us more than we can handle. As entrepreneurs, we all know running a business can be hard, but God guides us through even the toughest moments. This blog is intended to help you navigate entrepreneurship with a faithful foundation and work in a way that honors God.

God As a Business Partner

Think about this. How would you work if God was your business partner? If God himself came down from His kingdom and sat beside you in a meeting or on the other end of your Zoom call, how would that affect the way you speak to people? How would that determine the decisions you make? How would you approach the workday differently? The answer. You would approach the workday with greater purpose and alignment with God's will and you would be more confident, have greater integrity, and operate with complete faith.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you (James 1:5). God tells us to partner with Him and seek His wisdom in all things, especially in decision-making, and trust that He will provide it. Oh, there is magic in going straight to the source!

Having God as a business partner changes the way we work. We begin to exemplify God’s servant leadership. We start to use our business or platform to serve others. We incorporate a values-based business that reflects His values and glorifies Him. Our focus shifts from seeking the temporary rewards of man or material success to striving for God’s eternal reward. We stop chasing the fleeting rewards of this world and, instead, set our hearts on the lasting, eternal rewards only God can give.

Seeking God’s Reward

We don’t just serve our ideal client or target audience. Ultimately, we serve God. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving (Colossians 3:23-24). God tells us that the profits we make, the approval or endorsements we may get from others, the recognition or accolades do not compare to His reward as His reward is eternal and far greater than anything the world can offer.

So, right now you might be leading a team, building a product, selling a service or interacting with customers or clients, but remember it’s not just a job or a task. It’s a calling to serve God through your business and reflect His glory in all you do.

God Knows We Need Money

God knows we need money to provide for ourselves and our families. In fact, He created the world where resources are necessary, and we carry out His work. We must understand that God is our provider. The Bible doesn’t shy away from acknowledging the importance of money but reminds us to view it as a tool, not the ultimate goal.

Jesus tells us so do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well (Matthew 6:31-33). So, while money is important, our main focus should always be on seeking His Kingdom and righteousness. When we do, He promises to provide everything we need.

As business owners, we often feel the pressure to generate income, but we must remember that God is our provider. Our role is to work diligently, trust Him with the outcome, and use our earnings responsibly. By keeping God at the center of our financial goals, we avoid becoming consumed by greed or fear and instead use money as a resource to bless others and further His kingdom.

Prayer

I hope this blog has provided you with steps towards a faithful foundation and working in a way that honors God. Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, thank You for walking with us on this journey of entrepreneurship. We trust that You have not brought us this far to leave us and that You will guide us through every challenge. Help us to work with confidence, integrity, and faith, knowing You are our ultimate partner and provider. Grant us wisdom in our decisions and align our businesses with Your will. Let our work reflect Your values, serve others, and glorify Your name. Remind us that our true reward comes from You and help us to trust in Your provision as we seek first Your kingdom and righteousness.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
